Job summary

National Gas is seeking a skilled Pipe Fitter to join our fabrication team at Ambergate. You will fabricate, fit, assemble, and repair pipework and mechanical systems in line with engineering drawings and project needs.

The role supports welding, testing, installation, and critical tie-ins on site. We value practical, precise engineering with the ability to read drawings and isometrics, and you will work across workshop and site environments with a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Proven pipe fitting and fabrication experience in industrial settings.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and isometrics.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Apprenticeship or Level 3 engineering qualification in mechanical, gas, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, fit, assemble, maintain, and repair pipework systems and mechanical equipment to drawings and specifications.
• Prepare pipework for welding through measurement, machining, bevelling, grinding, alignment, and fit-up.
• Operate workshop machinery to manufacture, modify, and repair components.
• Verify materials, dimensions, tolerances, and completed assemblies against project requirements.
• Support welding, testing, installation, commissioning, and tie-in activities.
• Collaborate with Supervisors, Project Engineers, Welders, and operations teams to meet fabrication needs.
• Maintain high standards of safety, equipment care, and housekeeping.
