Job summary

Gaia Recruitment is recruiting for a Functional Assessor role starting in 2027. The position involves on-site and remote assessments for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claims, with a 3 days on-site / 2 days from home pattern.

You will review medical evidence, conduct structured consultations, and produce detailed reports to inform DWP decision-making. The role offers structured training, CPD, and clear progression into senior clinical roles.

Qualifications

• Clinical registration with a relevant professional body.
• Minimum of 2 years’ post-registration experience.
• Proficient written and verbal communication with strong reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out face-to-face and telephone/video functional assessments for PIP claims.
• Reviewing medical evidence and claimant histories to build a clinical picture.
• Conducting structured consultations to explore health condition impact on daily life.
• Producing detailed, well-reasoned written reports to inform DWP decisions.
• Applying clinical judgement within a structured assessment framework.
• Working to quality and productivity standards within a supportive environment.
• Collaborating with a wider clinical team including peer support and clinical leads.
