Job description

Full-time Vacancy

Exciting new opportunities for PIP2 investigators to work within the Major Crime Unit!

Applications are sought from qualified PIP2 investigators or PIP1 investigators through the NIE who are working towards accreditation, looking to develop themselves and work in the investigation of the most serious offences. Successful applicants will work in Major Crime incident rooms, playing a pivotal role in homicide investigations, with opportunities to develop as investigators and specialise in interviewing witnesses, suspects, and supporting victims' families.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Plan, coordinate, and undertake investigations as tasked, using all available techniques and technologies to detect and reduce crime, bringing offenders to justice.
  2. Support the wider investigative team by providing resilience and assisting in fast-time investigations when required.
  3. Ensure investigative actions are recorded accurately via NICHE, maintaining scrutiny, timely completion, and adherence to the Victims Code.
  4. Deliver a victim-centred service by visiting, assessing, and supporting victims, ensuring investigations are concluded promptly and victims are supported throughout the process.
  5. Prioritise investigations and manage caseloads, maintaining accurate records within the OEL on NICHE to ensure compliance with victim and witness protocols.

Due to the nature of the role, there may be a requirement to work flexibly outside normal hours or in different locations, especially during major incidents or complex investigations, with appropriate overtime and travel allowances.

Benefits include 24 days annual leave (pro-rata for part-time), flexible working, lifestyle discounts, career development, and the option to join a local government pension scheme. For full benefits, please click the provided link.
