Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Physical Development) to support and develop PE and related therapies across Mayfield Specialist School in Chorley.

This temporary role covers maternity leave from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2027, with duties across all phases including planning, delivering PE/MATP/Rebound therapy and collaborating with class teachers, physio therapists and OTs.

Qualifications

• Recognised NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• Level 2 English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy qualification.
• Desirable: NVQ Level 4 or HLTA status.

Responsibilities

• Plan PE/physical sessions and provide PPA cover across the school.
• Deliver Mayfield Physical curriculum and lead inter-school activities.
• Support pupils with personal, social, medical needs and track progress.
