Job summary

Ceredigion County Council is seeking a motivated Physical Activity Instructor to lead our fitness programmes at Plascrug Leisure Centre, Aberystwyth. You will run classes, gym inductions, and personal training while supporting holiday activities and health promotion.

You will work with the NERS team on the Fit4Life project and assist customers with programme information, including Welsh language service options where possible.

Qualifications

• Co-ordinate and deliver our fitness programme including fitness classes, gym sessions, personal training and gym inductions.

Job description

We are looking for a motivated, friendly individual to work as part of a team that provides a great experience to everyone that visits our leisure facilities. As a Physical Activity Instructor based at Plascrug Leisure Centre in Aberystwyth, you will lead on the delivery of our exercise programmes that include fitness classes, gym inductions, personal training, holiday programmes and the Fit4Life project. We are seeking an individual who thrives on getting the best out of others by helping them to learn new skills and meet their full potential. As a council, we are embarking on an exciting journey which will see a number of our Leisure Centres become Wellbeing Centres and these roles provide an excellent opportunity to be part of that journey as we contribute to the promotion of positive health and wellbeing of our citizens. As a Physical Activity Instructor, you will assist the manager in the provision of an efficient and effective service and on a day-to-day basis will:

• be responsible for co-ordinating and delivering our fitness programme that includes fitness classes, gym sessions, personal training and gym inductions
• co-ordinate and deliver our holiday programmes which includes sessions for infants, juniors and teenagers in partnership with the Active Young People Team
• assist with the marketing and promotion of the centre and the benefits of health and wellbeing
• work alongside the NERS team to deliver the 'Fit4Life' project
• handle customers and parents with questions and queries regarding our exercise programmes

Due to our opening hours, you will be required to work evenings and weekends as part of a shift pattern.
