Job summary

Cyngor Sir Ceredigion County Council is seeking a motivated Physical Activity Instructor to join the Plascrug Leisure Centre team in Aberystwyth. You will lead delivery of our exercise programmes, including fitness classes, gym inductions, personal training and holiday activities, while supporting the Wellbeing Centre development.

We value helping others learn and grow; DBS clearance is required and Welsh language skills are desirable.

Qualifications

• DBS check (Enhanced) required for this role.
• Bilingual service to customers; Welsh language desirable.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as part of shift patterns.

We are looking for a motivated, friendly individual to work as part of a team that provides a great experience to everyone that visits our leisure facilities. As a Physical Activity Instructor based at Plascrug Leisure Centre in Aberystwyth, you will lead on the delivery of our exercise programmes that include fitness classes, gym inductions, personal training, holiday programmes and the Fit4Life project.

As a council, we are embarking on an exciting journey which will see a number of our Leisure Centres become Wellbeing Centres and these roles provide an excellent opportunity to be part of that journey as we contribute to the promotion of positive health and wellbeing of our citizens.

As a Physical Activity Instructor, you will assist the manager in the provision of an efficient and effective service and on a day-to-day basis will:

• be responsible for co-ordinating and delivering our fitness programme that includes fitness classes, gym sessions, personal training and gym inductions
• co-ordinate and deliver our holiday programmes which includes sessions for infants, juniors and teenagers in partnership with the Active Young People Team
• assist with the marketing and promotion of the centre and the benefits of health and wellbeing
• work alongside the NERS team to deliver the ‘Fit4Life’ project
• handle customers and parents with questions and queries regarding our exercise programmes

We are committed to providing a bilingual service to our customers so a degree of fluency in the Welsh language is desirable for this post.

Due to our opening hours, you will be required to work evenings and weekends as part of a shift pattern.
