Job summary

Ceredigion County Council is seeking a motivated Physical Activity Instructor to join Plascrug Leisure Centre in Aberystwyth. You will lead on delivering fitness classes, gym inductions, personal training and holiday programmes as part of our wellbeing-centred approach.

You will assist in promoting health and wellbeing, work evenings/weekends per shift pattern, and contribute to the Wellbeing Centre journey. Welsh language desirability is noted and career development is supported.

Qualifications

• Ability to deliver a range of fitness classes and gym sessions.
• Experience coordinating holiday programmes for young people.
• Welsh language skills desirable.
• Commitment to health and wellbeing of citizens.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver fitness programme including fitness classes, gym sessions, personal training, and gym inductions.
• Coordinate and deliver holiday programmes with the Active Young People Team.
• Assist with marketing and promotion of the centre and benefits of health and wellbeing.
• Work with the NERS team to deliver the Fit4Life project.
• Handle customers and parents with questions and queries regarding our exercise programmes.

As a Physical Activity Instructor based at Plascrug Leisure Centre in Aberystwyth, you will lead on the delivery of our exercise programmes that include fitness classes, gym inductions, personal training, holiday programmes and the Fit4Life project.

As a council, we are embarking on an exciting journey which will see a number of our Leisure Centres become Wellbeing Centres and these roles provide an excellent opportunity to be part of that journey as we contribute to the promotion of positive health and wellbeing of our citizens.

As a Physical Activity Instructor, you will assist the manager in the provision of an efficient and effective service and on a day-to-day basis will:

• be responsible for co-ordinating and delivering our fitness programme that includes fitness classes, gym sessions, personal training and gym inductions
• co-ordinate and deliver our holiday programmes which includes sessions for infants, juniors and teenagers in partnership with the Active Young People Team
• assist with the marketing and promotion of the centre and the benefits of health and wellbeing
• work alongside the NERS team to deliver the 'Fit4Life' project
• handle customers and parents with questions and queries regarding our exercise programmes

We are committed to providing a bilingual service to our customers so a degree of fluency in the Welsh language is desirable for this post.

Due to our opening hours, you will be required to work evenings and weekends as part of a shift pattern.
