The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) Oxford seeks a Scientist in Photosynthesis Assay Development to join the ‘Yield and Photosynthesis’ programme. You will develop platforms to evaluate engineered protein variants on photosynthetic efficiency in crops and translate results into improved productivity.

You'll work with computational scientists, protein engineers and plant biologists to design scalable workflows, perform high‑throughput phenotyping, contribute to publications and IP, and help

Qualifications

• PhD in plant physiology, molecular biology, or related field.
• Experience measuring photosynthetic performance using chlorophyll fluorescence (PAM).
• Experience measuring photosynthesis across plant systems.
• Ability to design robust, scalable experimental workflows.
• Strong molecular biology skills including PCR, cloning, nucleic acid extraction, etc.
• Excellent data analysis, statistics, and visualization skills.
• Proven ability to publish results in peer‑reviewed journals.

Responsabilités

• Develop and scale experimental platforms for evaluating engineered protein variants on photosynthetic performance.
• Apply robust photosynthetic phenotyping assays and plant expression systems.
• Collaborate with computational scientists, protein engineers, and plant biologists.
• Translate research findings into go/no-go decisions for crop transformation and validation.
• Contribute to publications and IP generation.
• Support translation of research into commercial opportunities aligned with EIT's mission.
