Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde invites applications for a part-time phlebotomist at Stobhill Ambulatory Care Hospital in Glasgow. The role involves blood collection, patient interaction, and supporting Haematology Clinic staff.

You will need interpersonal skills; training provided; base location Stobhill Hospital with rotational shifts; 15.35 hours per week; opportunities to contribute to efficient service and infection control.

Qualifications

• Educated to Standard Grade level or possess equivalent experience.
• Phlebotomy training can be provided.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong team‑working abilities.
• Good time management and organisational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples by venepuncture or capillary sampling as requested by medical staff.
• Ensure accurate patient identification, sample collection, and labelling of specimens and documentation.
• Support the safe processing of blood transfusion cross‑match samples in line with protocols.
• Liaise effectively with phlebotomy team leaders and clinical staff throughout the working day.
• Adhere to Infection Control, Health & Safety, Incident Reporting, and Patient Confidentiality policies.
• Support the timely delivery of blood specimens to laboratories to meet service targets.
• Provide cover for other phlebotomists during annual leave and sickness absence.
