Job summary

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Exeter is seeking a Phlebotomist to support patient care by collecting blood samples under the direction of clinical teams. Previous phlebotomy experience is desirable, but full training and support will be provided.

Working pattern offers 20 hours per week substantive post with bank hours; rosters include some Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays and on-site ward and outpatient clinic work.

Qualifications

• Full training and support will be provided.
• Desirable prior phlebotomy experience but not essential.
• Ability to work rosters including weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• To contribute to the delivery of patient’s individual care programmes under the direction of the clinical teams.
• Collection of blood samples from patients, staff and also patients with difficult venous access referred by GP’s and other Healthcare organisations.
• To work in ward environment as well as out patient clinics.
• To support the provision of a Trust wide Phlebotomy service covering 365 days of the year.
• To practice in accordance with Trust standards and statutory requirements and operate within the boundaries of the role and assessed competencies.
