Job summary

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Exeter is seeking a Phlebotomist to support patient care by collecting blood samples under the direction of clinical teams. Previous phlebotomy experience is desirable, but full training and support will be provided.

Working pattern offers 20 hours per week substantive post with bank hours; rosters include some Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays and on-site ward and outpatient clinic work.

  • To practice in accordance with Trust standards and statutory requirements and operate within the boundaries of the role and assessed competencies.

Phlebotomists have a key role within the Hospital. As a Phlebotomist you will be trained in meeting patients and collecting important blood samples as part of their care at the main RDUH Exeter site. Previous Phlebotomy experience, although desirable, is not essential as full training and support will be given.
More importantly, we are looking for people who can demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and can use tact and consideration when dealing with patients.
The service relies on using a computerised ordering and collection system therefore candidates should be familiar with the use of IT systems at home or in previous employment.
Applicants must also be able to work on a roster including some Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.

Working Pattern:Options of 20 hours per week substantive post and bank hours are available.
