Job summary

Operose Health is seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join our supportive team in a general practice setting. The role is 30 hours per week, focusing on high-quality blood collection with minimal patient distress and accurate sample labelling for analysis.

The ideal candidate will have primary care phlebotomy experience, a recognised training certificate, and excellent bedside manner to support patients who may be anxious. Training and development opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Primary Care setting and phlebotomy.
• Completed recognised phlebotomist training course.
• Excellent patient care and bedside manner, able to stay calm with anxious patients.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood samples of appropriate quality with minimal stress to patients.
• Label samples accurately and prepare them for pathology analysis.
• Make concise notes in the patient’s record.
• Explain procedures clearly to patients and engage with both adults and children.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Phlebotomist with a knowledge of working within a general practice environment to join our supportive and friendly team.

CGH Partnership are looking for a Phlebotomist for 30 hours per week.

Role Responsibility

Keys duties will include:

• Obtaining blood samples of the appropriate quality, taken with minimal stress to patients, which will help with patients’ diagnosis and treatment.
• Accurately labelling samples and preparing them for collection to the pathology department for analysis.
• Making appropriate notes in the patient’s record.
• Taking blood is a special skill, which requires patience and the ability to engage with both adults and children. You need to have a calm approach and to have had experience in a clinical environment and be able to care for people if distressed.

The Ideal Candidate

Interested? What you will need to be considered:

• Experience in a Primary Care setting and phlebotomy.
• Completed recognised phlebotomist training course.
• Excellent patient care and bedside manner, capable of dealing calmly with patients who may feel stressed or nervous in this situation.
• Ability to clearly explain procedures to patients.
• An understanding of infection control and sterilization practices.
• Must be familiar with medical procedures and able to follow protocols.
