Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00-17:30 (plus rota weekends and bank holidays)

We’re looking for a Pharmacy Technician to join our team at The Wellington Hospital, rated “Good” by the CQC. The hospital covers specialist units including ICU, Gynaecology, CCU/HDU, Cardiology, and Digestive Health. Joining this team provides exposure to these areas and experts in these fields.

The Pharmacy Technician will assist in providing comprehensive pharmacy services across the Wellington Hospital sites and affiliated outpatient centers. Reporting to the Senior Pharmacy Technician, with support from the Head Technician and Pharmacists, the role involves daily pharmacy operations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Accurately dispense and issue prescription medicines, including controlled drugs, to inpatients, outpatients, and offsite patients.
  • As an Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT), perform prescription accuracy checks per policy; manage stock discrepancy reports using Omnicell; promote cost-effective stock management; handle IV fluids, medical gases, and stock shortages safely and efficiently.
  • Undertake basic procurement duties and become proficient in Meditech electronic health system.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and timely processes; update and review policies; participate in team training and education.
  • Support distribution activities by fulfilling stock and top-up orders for wards and theatres using Meditech software.
