Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team, based at The London Clinic in Central London, W1G 6BW, with a Band 5 salary equivalent.

About the Pharmacy Department

The Pharmacy department at The London Clinic comprises several areas working together to provide effective patient services and optimal outcomes. The department includes 9 core services: On Call, Dispensary Services, Distribution and Top Up Service, Procurement, Clinical Ward Pharmacy Services, Provision of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), Aseptic/Technical Services, Clinical Governance, and Education and Training.

We have extensive oncology services, including a purpose-built chemotherapy aseptic compounding suite, and an automated medication dispensing system supporting decentralized medicine management across wards.

Job Profile

As a Rotational Pharmacy Technician, you will participate in a safe, efficient, and accurate technician-led pharmacy service across all sites at The London Clinic. This is a rotational role involving Dispensary, Distribution, Procurement, and eventually Ward services.

The post holder will ensure services are delivered safely, effectively, economically, and in a timely manner, adhering to current legislation and guidelines.

Position Details

• Type: Full-time, permanent, working 37.5 hours per week.
• Shifts: Monday to Sunday, 8.30am to 7.30pm, as rostered.
• Salary: Band 5 salary equivalent.

Key Duties

• Provide a safe, efficient, and accurate dispensing service, including controlled drugs.
• Support and supervise dispensary staff, ensuring SOPs are followed.
• Manage daily medicinal product orders.
• Raise orders for consumables and TPN to suppliers and central stores in the absence of the administrative assistant.
• Assist Senior Pharmacy Technician and ward pharmacists in delivering near-patient services.

Skills & Experience

• NVQ Pharmacy Services Level 3 or equivalent, with accredited underpinning knowledge.
• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Evidence of CPD.
• Experience in an acute hospital setting.
