Job summary

Blue Cross is seeking a Pet Welfare Assistant for off-site services in Sheffield. You will manage pet cases across foster and crisis care, ensuring welfare standards and timely assessments to help pets find new homes.

The role is permanent, part-time at 18.75 hours per week on a two-week rota, with weekend and public holiday shifts. Strong empathy, good communication, and a driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience of having previously worked or volunteered with domestic animals or in an animal welfare environment.
• Good experience of recording information and communicating clearly with others.
• Previous experience in a customer-focused environment and achieving high customer satisfaction.
• Good organisational and administration skills including computerised systems.
• A full driving licence.
• Ability to demonstrate and apply Blue Cross values.

Responsibilities

• Manage a specific number of pet cases within the offsite care service, including rehoming, fostering and crisis care.
• Ensure welfare standards are met and rehabilitation plans are followed in foster homes.
• Support quick and thorough assessments of pets preparing for new homes in offsite services.
