Job summary

Blue Cross in Hertfordshire is recruiting a Pet Welfare Assistant to join our onsite Rehoming & Fostering team at the Hitchin centre. This part-time role (30 hours per week) involves caring for pets, carrying out assessments and rehabilitation plans, and supporting adopters throughout the process.

You will help ensure welfare standards are met, record information accurately, and work with the Adoptions Coordinator to provide advice and demonstrations.

Qualifications

• Experience with domestic animals or animal welfare environment.
• Customer-focused with high level of customer satisfaction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organisational and administration skills including computerised systems.
• Current full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare pets for adoption, carry out assessments and rehab plans.
• Ensure welfare standards are met and rehab plans followed.
• Record information accurately and complete paperwork; liaise with owners.
• Provide advice and demonstrations to adopters and carers.
• Work 30 hours on a two-week rota, including every other weekend and some public holidays.
