Job summary

Blue Cross is recruiting a Pet Welfare Assistant for our off-site services in Hertfordshire (Hitchin, SG4 8EU). This permanent, full-time role offers 37.5 hours per week with on-site accommodation and weekend/night shifts as required.

You will manage pet cases in off-site care, ensure welfare standards are met, and support foster carers and adopters while delivering compassionate customer service in a busy rehoming environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with domestic animals or in an animal welfare environment.
• Strong record-keeping and communication skills.
• Customer-focused with high levels of service.
• Full driving licence.
• Ability to demonstrate Blue Cross values.

Responsibilities

• Manage a defined number of pet cases within off-site care.
• Ensure welfare standards and rehabilitation plans are followed.
• Coordinate assessments for pets preparing for new homes.
• Provide excellent customer service to fosterers, clients and stakeholders.
• Oversee on-site accommodation/night checks as required.
