Job summary

Outwood Academy Kirkby is seeking a PLC Coordinator to lead the Personalised Learning Centre and coordinate alternative courses aimed at vulnerable students. The role focuses on removing barriers to learning through targeted interventions and robust external partnerships.

You will develop time-bound action plans with SMART targets, provide mentoring support, and help learners progress toward further education, apprenticeships, or employment. Strong ICT and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school environment with young people facing difficulties and vulnerabilities.
• Excellent communication with a wide range of audiences.
• Strong time management and organisational skills.
• Proficiency in using standard ICT packages.
• Ability to develop programmes of work to build self-esteem and confidence.

Responsibilities

• Identify student cohorts for the alternative curriculum and deliver related courses.
• Lead the management of the Personalised Learning Centre (PLC) and intervention strategies.
• Engage in extensive external liaison with services (Social and Youth Services, Education Welfare, Probation).
• Develop and implement SMART action plans to remove barriers to learning.
• Mentor pupils and support progression to further education, apprenticeships, or employment.
