Job summary

TPF Recruitment is supporting a well established independent accountancy practice in Brighton with the recruitment of a Personal Tax Manager. You will oversee the private client tax portfolio, delivering compliant self assessments and proactive tax advice.

The role blends hands-on compliance with advisory responsibility and mentoring of junior staff, reporting to partners in a collaborative, supportive office environment. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• This role requires experience in private client tax and a strong knowledge of UK personal tax and estates.
• Experience managing or mentoring junior staff and working with partners.
• Proven ability to deliver high quality tax advice within deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit self assessment tax returns for varied private clients.
• Manage trusts including cash books, distributions, and trust returns.
• Calculate capital gains tax liabilities and CGT returns where needed.
• Provide guidance on residency, inheritance tax and capital gains tax matters.
• Be the primary contact for personal tax clients and maintain relationships.
• Oversee work in progress and billing with partners to ensure efficiency.
• Mentor and support a junior staff member and provide technical guidance.
• Collaborate with the accounts team to integrate personal tax considerations.
• Identify tax planning opportunities and assist with advisory projects.
• Stay updated with personal tax changes and HMRC guidance.
