An established industry player is looking for a compassionate Personal Assistant to support a gentleman with autism in Macclesfield. This role is crucial in enhancing the individual's quality of life through personalized assistance and supervision. Main Duties:
• Daily Support: Assist with daily routines, including prompting personal care including day and night time routines, meal preparation, shopping, support with money and household tasks.
• Social Interaction: Encourage and support social interactions and community involvement, travelling on trains & train spotting.
• Scheduling: Manage appointments, activities, and schedules to ensure timely and organized execution.
• Transportation: Provide transportation to appointments, social events, and other activities as needed.
• Advocacy: Advocate for the individual's needs and preferences in various settings.
• Behavioural Support: Implement strategies to manage and support positive behaviours.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, progress.
Personal Assistant Specification
• Disposition: ability to work independently, enthusiastic, caring with a high level of patience, empathy, and understanding.
• Experience: Previous experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities.
• Accountability: respect the individual’s privacy and always maintain their dignity, accountable to the individual in all aspects of their work. Always ask what their needs are and listen to their directions and requests
• Skills: Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Work well independently
• Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing needs and environments.
• Education: Relevant qualifications in healthcare, social work, or a related field (preferred but not required).
• Driving Licence: Valid driving licence and own transport.
• DBS: enhanced disclosure and check will be required which will be funded through your employer
