Job description

£12.70 per hour (gross) at all times with 5.6 weeks pro rata holidays. We are advertising this personal assistant role of our 13 years old son, who has diagnosis of Autism for 4 hours per week plus an additional 2 in school holidays. Hours can be arranged in advance with parents to provide greater flexibility. Initially the PA will build a relationship in the home and then start to access the community with him. Likes trips to the park and trampolining. How he communicates: He uses some words and short sentence to communicate my wants and needs. He is good at using visuals like my choice board and aided language displays - make sure he gains an adult's attention prior to initiating communication. He has gestalt processing so sometimes my phrases don't match what he means, learns through modelling. He will need supervision all the time, as do not have any awareness of danger. Things he likes:

  • Playgrounds
  • Intensive interaction
  • Trampoline
  • Swimming
Things he does not like:
  • Loud noises
  • Other children upset
  • People in my personal space
  • Physical touch from unfamiliar adults
