Job summary

Cornwall Council Together for Families is seeking a caring 1:1 Personal Assistant to support a 6-year-old boy with non-speaking autism in Helston. You will help him enjoy activities, develop life skills and build independence at his own pace.

The role requires small but consistent engagement around 4 hours per week, mainly weekends and school holidays, at £13.45 per hour. Training in Makaton is available or can be learned. Applicants must be patient, reliable and committed to safeguarding.

Personal Assistant for 6 year old boy who has non-speaking Autism

We are looking for a lovely, caring and patient person to support our 6-year-old boy, who has non-speaking autism.

We’re hoping to find someone who is energetic, understanding and fun-loving, who can build a positive, trusting relationship with him and help him enjoy new experiences, develop his independence and learn everyday life skills at his own pace.

The role will involve providing 1:1 support with activities such as swimming, going for walks, visiting play parks and enjoying other fun activities, as well as some personal care and support with his daily needs. His safety, happiness and wellbeing are always the priority.

A little about the role:

• Location: Helston
• 4 hours per week, mainly weekends and school holidays
• Pay: £13.45 per hour
• 1:1 support with activities and everyday life skills
• Supporting communication using Makaton (or a willingness to learn the basics)
