Cornwall Council Together for Families seeks a reliable Personal Assistant to support a fun-loving 11-year-old with Autism and CPTSD in the St Austell area. You will help him live actively, learn new skills, and stay safe as part of a private arrangement with the family.
The role requires experience as a PA or teaching assistant, patience, and the ability to accompany him on outdoor activities, while promoting his independence and confidence in daily routines.
Do you want a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference while supporting a young person to live an active and fulfilling life?
Are you an experienced PA or teaching assistant?
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Personal Assistant to support a fun-loving and active 11 year old with Autism and CPTSD living in the St Austell area.
He is a real ball of energy, but is a kind, funny and cheeky young man. He loves to run, playfight, be loud, eat, make jokes, play with pets and generally rip around the house!
He loves learning cool facts, enjoys photography & really enjoys photographing animals & the outdoors. He has love of sharing stories, designing characters & concepts & VR, whilst also collecting rare items such as Pokemon or limited edition Plushees. He also enjoys getting out and walking his dog.
He has a strong character, physically and emotionally. Stims constantly both emotionally and physically. He needs consistency & time to process change, lacks safety awareness so needs continual eyes on him and prefers to make a plan before committing. It is preferred that his interest in whatever activity is planned is confirmed, as he is just as happy to refuse activities as he is to accept.
He is looking forward to developing a relationship with someone who can accompany him on a variety of outdoor, all-weather activities and general recreation, while encouraging his independence and helping him develop essential life skills.
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and will not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All offers of employment will be subject to the successful candidate undertaking an enhanced DBS check. The administration process will be undertaken by Cornwall Council.
Please note, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
