Job summary

Disability North is seeking a compassionate PA to support a teenager with autism and intellectual disability at home in Rowlands Gill, Gateshead. The role covers personal care, meal support, and engaging activities in a flexible schedule, primarily between Friday evening and weekend afternoons.

Experience with autism and sensory issues is valued; a driving car is desirable but not essential. UK work permission is required. The vacancy closes when a suitable candidate is appointed.

Qualifications

• Care experience, particularly with autism and sensory issues.
• Ability to provide personal care and support.
• Willingness to assist in daily activities and transport if needed.

Responsibilities

• Personal care and toileting as required.
• Preparing a simple meal and encouraging oral intake.
• Engaging with activities at home or in the garden (art, toys, reading, Lego).
• Occasionally assisting the parent to access the local community.

Job description

Hours: 4 hours per week

PA to be flexible between Friday evening and Saturday/Sunday afternoon

Rate: £16.00 per hour

Area: Rowlands Gill, Gateshead

To support a teenager with autism and a intellectual disability with personal care, having a meal and engaging with activities within the home

Responsibilities/duties:

Personal care and toileting as required

Preparing a simple meal and encouraging oral intake

Engaging with activities within the home/garden such as art, playing with toys, reading books, Lego etc. Occasionally assisting

Occasionally assisting with parent to access the local community

We are looking for:

Someone caring and trustworthy

Someone with care experience, particularly supporting people with autism, challenging behaviour and have an awareness of sensory issues

A car driver is desirable but not essential
