Job summary

Disability North in Gateshead is seeking a compassionate support worker to assist a young client aged 18 who is autistic with severe learning difficulties. The role involves accompanying him on activities outside the home, including swimming, library visits, visits to a farm or parks, and requires flexibility for school-holiday schedules.

You will work 2:1 with another staff member, with some personal care occasionally. Pay is £14.04 per hour.

The client is an 18-year-old male who is full of energy and humour. He has a diagnosis of autism and severe learning difficulties. Whilst nonverbal he is able to communicate via his communication aid. He has no sense of danger and will attempt to abscond given the opportunity.

The successful applicant will accompany the client on activities outside the home such as swimming, going to library, the local farm or play parks. You will be working 2:1 alongside another member of staff. A small amount of personal care may be required. Additional hours may become available in the near future.
