Independent Lives is seeking a compassionate Personal Assistant / Carer to support a severely disabled adult in their own home. The role emphasizes independence, dignity, and person-centered care within a family setting.

The candidate will provide personal care, assist with daily activities, manage medications, and support social engagement. Training is provided, and a DBS check is required.

Formación

• Experience in complex care (neuro/feeding/epilepsy) is preferred.
• Enhanced DBS clearance required.
• Full training provided and references may be required.

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable and experienced Personal Assistant / Carer (female only role) to support a severely disabled adult with complex needs in their own home.

The role involves providing high-quality, person-centred care and support to enable independence, dignity and quality of life.

We need someone who also understands the professional boundaries within a family home setting. To offer independence and decision making to the client where appropriate.

Duties include:

• Full personal care (washing, dressing, toileting as doubly incontinent)
• Moving and handling (hoisting required)
• Support with feeding and medication administration
• Assistance with communication needs
• Supporting social activities and being out in the community.
• Light household tasks related to client.

About the Individual

You will be supporting a friendly adult with severe complex physical disabilities and additional care needs.

Full training will be provided for the right candidate and annual mandatory training will be arranged between employer and manager before booking online.

Previous experience in complex care (e.g. neurological conditions, feeding, epilepsy management, etc.)

• Confident with moving and handling equipment
• Reliable, punctual and patient

• Experience with non-verbal communication methods
