Medway Council is seeking a compassionate Personal Assistant to support a lady with significant disability living in her own home in Gillingham. The role involves assisting with morning routines, personal care, and light household tasks to promote independence.

Flexible hours total 6 hours per week (2 Sat, 2 Sun, 2 other weekday). Applicants should be caring, reliable, and comfortable with intimate care; full training provided. Female applicants only as required by the client’s needs.

  • Prepare breakfast and drinks if required.
  • Carry out light household tasks related to care and wellbeing.
  • Provide reassurance and person-centred support while promoting independence.

Job description

Hours: 6 Hours per week: 2 hours Saturday morning, 2 hours Sunday morning, 2 hours on another weekday to be agreed

Salary: £13.50 per hour

Location: Gillingham

About the role

A compassionate, reliable and dependable female Personal Assistant is required to support a lovely lady with a significant physical disability and complex heath needs to live independently in her own home. My client is a full-time electric wheelchair user and requires support with all aspects of her morning routine. She enjoys reading and watching tv documentaries.

Duties will include
  • Assisting with getting out of bed using a ceiling hoist and other specialist equipment
  • Providing personal care with dignity and respect
  • Assisting with washing, dressing and preparing for the day
  • Supporting with continence care
  • Preparing breakfast and drinks if required
  • Carrying out light household tasks related to the employer’s care and wellbeing
  • Providing reassurance and person-centred support while promoting independence wherever possible

The employer experiences significant fatigue and has complex health needs, so a calm, patient and understanding approach is essential.
