Job summary

North Yorkshire Centre for Independent Living in Filey is seeking a part-time Personal Assistant to support an older lady at home. The role will enable her daughter to have some time away, with roughly 4–6 hours per week over 2 days to begin with, possibly Wednesday and Thursday, and occasional holiday cover.

Responsibilities

• Provide nourishing meals and maintain a clean, peaceful and comfortable living environment.
• Do the laundry and help with domestic tasks as needed.
• Support wellbeing through stimulating and creative activities.
• Assist with getting washed and dressed in the morning.
• Help prepare for bed in the early evening.

Job description

A Personal Assistant is required to support an older lady to continue to be happy and well in her own home. Currently her daughter is her full-time carer, so the job will enable her to have some time away from the house.

The role will involve: helping to provide nourishing meals, maintaining a clean, peaceful and comfortable living environment, doing the laundry, supporting well-being through stimulating and creative activities, helping her to get washed and dressed in the morning, and ready for bed in the early evening.

The position may suit somebody who is retired or semi-retired who lives in the Filey area, or someone looking for part-time work. We are looking for someone who is patient, compassionate, self-aware and professional. Experience of working with people with a cognitive impairment would be beneficial.

Mutual flexibility with days and hours is an option. Roughly 4-6 hours per week over 2 days to begin with (possibly Wednesday and Thursday) potentially leading to more in the future. Occasional holiday cover may be needed.

Rate of pay is £15 per hour.

Experience: Home care: 1 year (preferred)
