Job summary

Randstad Education is recruiting a permanent Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join an encouraging Cambridge primary school. The role is full-time and permanent, with an ASAP or January 2027 start.

As HLTA you will lead whole-class teaching during PPA time, deliver targeted interventions, and work with senior leaders to raise attainment across key stages. The position requires HLTA status or Level 4, an Enhanced DBS Update Service, and the right to work in the UK; salary £25,000–£28,500

Qualifications

• Holds HLTA status (or an equivalent Level 4 qualification / extensive primary class cover experience).
• Proven track record of leading whole classes and delivering targeted interventions within a UK primary school setting.
• Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum, primary phonics, and numeracy strategies.
• Confident, patient, and adaptable approach with excellent classroom management skills.
• Holds an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or readiness to process one through Randstad).
• Mandatory UK Right to Work (no visa sponsorship available).

Responsibilities

• Whole-Class Cover & PPA Delivery: Independently lead and deliver pre-planned lessons across year groups during PPA time.
• Targeted Learning Interventions: Plan and deliver 1-to-1 and small-group catch-up sessions in core subjects.
• Classroom Leadership & Behaviour: Maintain high expectations and positive learning environments across key stages.
• Support Inclusion & SEN: Collaborate with teachers and SENCO to adapt resources for SEND pupils.
• Long-Term School Contribution: Provide feedback on pupil progress and contribute to school initiatives.
