Job summary

Lotus Recruitment Ltd on behalf of a popular primary school in Sevenoaks, Kent, is seeking a reliable School Caretaker. You will join the site team to maintain a safe, clean and well-presented environment for pupils and staff, with a proactive and hands-on approach.

Responsibilities include opening and securing the site, general maintenance and repairs, health and safety checks, event setup, and liaising with contractors.

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and well-established, Popular Primary school tucked away within Sevenoaks, seeking a reliable, proactive and hands-on School Caretaker to join their site team.

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school site each day.
• Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and DIY tasks.
• Ensuring the school buildings and grounds are safe, clean and well maintained.
• Completing regular health and safety checks.
• Assisting with room setups for school events and activities.
• Liaising with contractors and monitoring work carried out on site.
• Reporting maintenance issues and keeping accurate records.
• Supporting the school with compliance and site security.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience in a caretaker, site supervisor, facilities or maintenance role.
• Good practical DIY and maintenance skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
• Able to work independently and manage their workload effectively.
• Friendly, approachable and committed to providing an excellent service.
• Flexible, dependable and willing to support the wider school community.

Essential Requirements

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Previous experience in a similar maintenance or caretaking role.
