Job summary

Encyclis is seeking an Assistant Plant Operator to join the new Walsall ERF site. You will rotate across 12-hour shifts, manage waste feeding, boiler systems and emissions controls, and help establish a high-performance safety culture from day one.

You will receive training for mobile plant operation and overhead cranes, work closely with the Shift Team Leader, and contribute to day-to-day operations, housekeeping and process improvements on a growing, state-of-the-art site.

Qualifications

• National Vocational Qualification Level 2 or above in a technical or science subject.
• Experience in plant operations, process plant or maintenance.
• Preferable practical experience with large boiler and rotating plant.
• Training will be provided in accordance with the facility Training Matrix.

Responsibilities

• Operate the facility in a safe, environmentally compliant and efficient manner on a shift rotation basis, including waste feeding and plant systems.
• Promote, monitor and improve site H&S performance, participate in safety meetings and inspections.
• Develop, implement and maintain operational procedures and risk assessments.
• Report Health, Safety and Environmental unsafe conditions, accidents or incidents to the Shift Team Leader.
• Coordinate and communicate safe working practices with site staff and contractors.
• Undertake training to safely operate mobile plant and overhead cranes.
• Carry out basic PPMs and assist maintenance activities.
• Support day shift operations and maintain facility housekeeping to high standards.
• Take deliveries of consumables and manage stock levels.
• Adhere to safe operational procedures and risk assessments.
• Assist with operational improvement processes and corrective actions, defect notifications and rectification.
• Coordinate with emergency services during incidents and act as Fire Marshall under direction.
