Job summary

Dorset Travel is seeking a Peripatetic Passenger Assistant based in the Blandford area to support children and young people with additional needs on school transport. The role covers Blandford area journeys, with duties extending to travel to accompany and assist on trips to/from home and school.

The position is approximately 20 hours per week, term time only, commencing at £13.05 per hour. Candidates must be able to travel with their own vehicle to meet transport needs and have availability in

• Recognition of hazards and how to report them.
• Ability to run, bend, stretch, push, pull, lift, carry and kneel to provide care.

Job description

Dorset Travel coordinate the transport provision for children and young people with additional needs within Dorset as well as out of county. The team also supply and support transport need for Mainstream, Child Care as well as Adults.

The vacancy is for a Peripatetic Passenger Assistant living in the Blandford Area contracted at approximately 20 hours per week - Term Time Only commencing at £13.05 per hour.

The role of a Passenger Assistant is to support children and young people providing additional assistance in maintaining a safe environment on the journey from/to home/school. This vacancy is for a Peripatetic Passenger Assistant from the Blandford Area to cover Regular Passenger Assistant absence. This role has a requirement to travel with use of own vehicle to meet transport.

Candidates need to be available morning and afternoon to coincide with school opening and closing times with all holiday leave to be taken in the school holidays.
