Job description

This is a predominantly site-based role, working across our services. There may also be occasional opportunities to work from our central office or from home, where appropriate and required.

Why this role could be right for you:

At Dignus Group, we are committed to enabling people to live meaningful and fulfilling lives through person-centred support, compassionate leadership and continuous improvement.

As a Peripatetic Manager, you’ll play a key role across our residential and supported living services, providing flexible leadership and operational expertise where it is needed most.

You’ll support services through periods of growth, transition, improvement and change, helping to ensure the people we support receive safe, high-quality care and achieve positive outcomes.

This is a highly visible and influential role where no two days are the same. You could be supporting a complex admission, helping a service through a period of improvement, supporting a new service mobilisation or stepping in as an Interim Registered Manager.

If you are an experienced social care leader who is confident managing change, solving problems and supporting teams to achieve high standards, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

What we offer:
  • £45,000 annual salary plus car allowance
  • 33 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays
  • Additional annual leave at key career milestones
  • Benenden Health plan for added peace of mind
  • £500 employee referral scheme
  • Company pension to support your future
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) wellbeing support
  • Life assurance at 2x annual salary
  • Blue Light Card access with discounts on retail, travel and leisure
  • Paid training and access to recognised qualifications
  • Fully funded apprenticeships
  • Clear development pathways and opportunities to progress within the organisation
What the role involves:

As a Peripatetic Manager, you’ll provide flexible operational leadership across Dignus services, supporting teams and managers to deliver safe, effective and person-centred care.

This includes:

  • Providing leadership and operational support across residential and supported living services
  • Supporting complex admissions, transitions and new placements
  • Conducting or supporting pre-admission assessments, compatibility reviews and risk assessments
  • Working with families, commissioners and multidisciplinary professionals to support successful transitions
  • Supporting services to achieve sustainable occupancy and growth while maintaining quality and placement suitability
  • Providing targeted leadership to services requiring stabilisation, improvement or additional operational support
  • Completing service reviews and developing clear, measurable improvement plans
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing managers and leadership teams
  • Supporting services through periods of change, growth and organisational development
  • Conducting quality assurance reviews, audits and compliance checks
  • Supporting services to maintain compliance with CQC regulations, safeguarding responsibilities and internal governance requirements
  • Supporting responses to inspections, safeguarding concerns, complaints, incidents and investigations
  • Preparing services for inspections and supporting post-inspection improvement plans
  • Undertaking Interim Registered Manager responsibilities during periods of absence, vacancy, transition or organisational need
  • Providing visible leadership and maintaining continuity of service delivery
  • Overseeing areas including safeguarding, care planning, medication, staffing, performance and incident management
  • Leading team meetings, supervisions, performance reviews and stakeholder engagement where required
  • Supporting the recruitment and transition of permanent Registered Managers
  • Working closely with Regional Operations Managers and senior leaders to deliver improvement and operational priorities

The role will involve working flexibly across different locations and responding to the operational needs of the organisation. You may be required to provide support at short notice during periods of service improvement, transition, absence or other emerging priorities.

No two days will be the same, and you will need to be comfortable adapting your priorities to provide leadership and support wherever it is needed.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for this role.

What we're looking for:

We welcome applications from experienced Registered Managers and senior social care leaders who are confident working across multiple services and environments.

You may be a great fit if you have:

  • Significant experience managing residential and/or supported living services within adult social care
  • Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding, governance and quality assurance
  • Experience leading services through change, improvement or development
  • Experience managing competing priorities across multiple locations
  • Strong leadership, communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to analyse service performance and implement effective improvement plans
  • A calm, resilient and solutions-focused approach
  • The confidence to make decisions and provide leadership in challenging situations
  • Experience supporting people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs or complex support requirements
  • Experience of service turnaround, mobilisation or crisis management would be desirable
  • Multi-site management experience would be advantageous
  • You will need to hold a full UK driving licence and be eligible to register with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as a Registered Manager.
  • A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or equivalent) would be desirable.
