Spire Leicester Hospital invites applications for a Recovery Practitioner to join the Anaesthetic & Recovery Team. You will deliver high-quality post-operative care within a modern theatre environment, supporting patients through their recovery journey and collaborating with surgeons, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary colleagues.

The role requires an NMC HCPC registration and prior theatre/perioperative experience, with strong clinical assessment, communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC) registration required.
• Experience in a theatre or perioperative environment.
• Strong clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary staff.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient care within the recovery setting.
• Monitor patients post-surgery and respond to changing clinical needs.
• Support patients’ health, wellbeing and comfort during immediate recovery.
• Collaborate with anaesthetists, surgeons and theatre team to ensure safe care.
• Prepare, check and safely use recovery equipment and monitoring devices.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate complex clinical information clearly.
• Contribute to governance, quality improvement and best-practice standards.
• Support development of colleagues and promote a positive team environment.
• Ensure infection prevention, safety and safeguarding procedures are followed.
• Act as a patient advocate and promote dignity and choice at all times.

Perioperative Practitioner - Recovery | Leicester | Oadby | Full Time | No Nights

At Spire Leicester Hospital, we're looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join our established Anaesthetic & Recovery Team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a modern, well-equipped theatre environment, supporting patients through their perioperative journey across a range of surgical specialties. You'll play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality recovery care while working alongside experienced consultants, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary teams who are committed to clinical excellence and outstanding patient outcomes.

The Role

As a Recovery Practitioner, you'll provide exemplary planned care for patients within the perioperative environment, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, dignity and experience throughout their recovery journey.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating patient care within the recovery setting
• Monitoring patients following surgery and recognising and responding appropriately to changing clinical needs
• Supporting patients’ health, wellbeing and comfort during the immediate post-operative period
• Working closely with anaesthetists, surgeons and the wider theatre team to ensure safe and effective patient care
• Preparing, checking and safely using recovery equipment and monitoring devices
• Maintaining accurate patient records and communicating complex clinical information effectively
• Contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives and best practice standards
• Supporting the development of colleagues and promoting a positive team environment
• Ensuring compliance with infection prevention, health and safety, and safeguarding procedures
• Acting as a patient advocate and promoting equality, diversity, dignity and patient choice at all times

What We're Looking For:

Essential:

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC)
• Previous experience working within a theatre or perioperative environment
• Strong clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care
• Flexible approach to work and willingness to participate in shift patterns

Desirable:

• Previous Recovery experience
• Anaesthetic and Recovery competencies
• Post-registration qualification in perioperative practice or relevant clinical speciality
• Experience working with complex patient caseloads
• Private healthcare experience
• Ongoing professional development within perioperative practice
