Job summary

Spire Leicester Hospital is seeking a Recovery Practitioner to join our Anaesthetic & Recovery Team in Leicester. You will deliver high-quality recovery care for patients across a range of surgical specialties within a modern theatre environment.

The role focuses on assessing and monitoring patients post-operatively, working closely with anaesthetists and the theatre team to ensure safe, patient-centred care and excellent outcomes.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with theatre/perioperative experience.
• Strong clinical assessment and monitoring skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
• Flexible approach to shift patterns.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate recovery care for patients.
• Monitor patients after surgery and respond to changing clinical needs.
• Support health, wellbeing and comfort in the immediate post-operative period.
• Collaborate with anaesthetists, surgeons and the theatre team to ensure safe care.
• Prepare and safely use recovery equipment and monitoring devices.
• Maintain accurate patient records and communicate complex information.
• Contribute to clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.
• Support development of colleagues and promote a positive team environment.
• Ensure infection prevention, health and safety, safeguarding procedures.
• Advocate for patients and promote equality, diversity and patient choice.
