Job summary

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Theatre Practitioner to join the peri-operative team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead. You will organise and provide nursing care in the peri-operative setting and support the surgical team to maintain excellence in perioperative practice.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all necessary instruments and equipment for surgery (microscopes, lasers, endoscopes)
• Provide the correct surgical instruments and materials to the surgeon
• Be responsible for all instruments, equipment and swabs during the operation
• Act as a link between the surgical team and other parts of the theatre and hospital
• Anticipate the requirements of the surgical team and respond effectively
• Safe, effective, high-quality care and standards for all surgical patients
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training as required to maintain competency
• Contribute to maintaining clinical governance, documentation and infection control standards
