Job summary

Welbeck Cambridge is seeking a registered nurse or ODP to deliver perioperative care in a modern day-case environment, supporting patients from pre-operative assessment through to recovery and discharge. You will work autonomously yet with multidisciplinary teams, assess suitability for surgery, monitor patients using NEWS2, and ensure safe discharge with compassionate, patient-centred care.

This role also involves governance and quality improvement within a growing private healthcare

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or ODP with perioperative, surgical ward, or day-case experience.
• Calm under pressure with strong clinical decision-making.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities to support patients throughout their surgical journey.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality perioperative care across pre-assessment, admission, recovery, and discharge.
• Assess patients for day-case suitability and escalate concerns.
• Monitor perioperative patients and respond to deterioration per NEWS2.
• Provide compassionate, patient-centred care and education.
• Administer prescribed treatments and ensure discharge criteria are met.
• Collaborate with consultants and multidisciplinary teams for seamless care.
• Support governance, infection prevention, and quality improvement.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and knowledge sharing.
