Job summary

Welbeck Cambridge is seeking a Pre / Post Operative Nurse to deliver perioperative care in a modern day-case environment. You will support patients from pre-operative assessment through recovery and discharge, working autonomously yet within a multidisciplinary team.

Ideal candidates are registered nurses or ODPs with perioperative experience, capable of assessing suitability, escalating concerns, and upholding Welbeck's standards of patient-centred care and governance.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or ODP with perioperative experience.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Commitment to patient-centred care and governance.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, perioperative care across pre-assessment, admission, recovery and discharge.
• Assess patient suitability for day-case surgery and escalate concerns when needed.
• Monitor and respond to deterioration using NEWS2 and escalation pathways.
• Provide compassionate, patient-centred education to patients and families.
• Administer prescribed treatments and ensure discharge criteria are met.
• Collaborate with consultants and multidisciplinary teams for seamless care.
• Support clinical governance, infection prevention and quality improvement.
