Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised teaching qualification.
  • Degree in Performing Arts, Drama, Dance, Music or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching Performing Arts in a secondary setting.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEN or additional learning needs.
  • Strong subject knowledge and ability to deliver engaging lessons.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.

Performing Arts Teacher - Long-Term

TARA Professional Recruitment are working in partnership with a specialist SEN secondary school in Telford to recruit a Performing Arts Teacher for a long-term teaching opportunity.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Performing Arts Teacher who is passionate about the subject and enjoys inspiring young people through creative and engaging teaching. The successful candidate will join a dedicated specialist setting and play an important role in developing pupils' confidence, creativity, communication and performance skills.

The school provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment for pupils with additional needs, with a strong focus on individual development and helping every pupil achieve their potential. Staff work collaboratively to provide a structured, nurturing and engaging environment where pupils can develop both academically and personally.

The role

As a Performing Arts Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging and accessible lessons across the Performing Arts curriculum within a specialist SEN setting.

The successful Performing Arts Teacher will adapt lessons and teaching strategies to meet the individual needs and abilities of pupils, encouraging them to develop their practical, creative and theoretical understanding of the subject. You will be expected to maintain effective classroom management, assess pupil progress and create a calm, structured and purposeful learning environment.

The role will involve working closely with colleagues and the wider school team to support pupils' academic, social and emotional development. A patient, consistent and nurturing approach will be important, alongside the ability to build positive relationships and engage pupils through creative learning.

This opportunity would suit a Performing Arts Teacher who is confident working with secondary-aged pupils with SEN or additional learning needs and who can use creativity to encourage participation, communication, confidence and self-expression.

Requirements

To be considered for this Performing Arts Teacher position, you should have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised teaching qualification.
  • A degree or relevant qualification in Performing Arts, Drama, Dance, Music or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching Performing Arts within a secondary school setting.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEN or additional learning needs.
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging and accessible lessons.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A patient, empathetic and nurturing approach to supporting young people.
  • The ability to adapt lessons and teaching strategies to meet individual pupil needs.
  • A flexible, reliable and professional approach.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
