Job summary

Vision for Education is recruiting a creative Performing Arts Teacher to join a well-regarded Newcastle secondary school on a long-term/supply basis, with the potential to become full-time.

You will deliver engaging lessons across KS3 and KS4 in drama, music and dance, support coursework and performances, and provide constructive feedback within a collaborative Performing Arts department. QTS or equivalent and eligibility to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

  • Must hold QTS or equivalent to teach Performing Arts in a secondary school.
  • Experience teaching Performing Arts at KS3 and KS4.
  • Strong knowledge in drama, music and/or dance for a varied curriculum.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and DBS checks in place.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging Performing Arts lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Teach drama, music and dance including performance and theory.
  • Support coursework, assessments, and student progress.
  • Plan differentiated lessons to meet a range of abilities.
  • Foster creativity, collaboration and self-expression within students.
  • Provide constructive feedback and track progress.
  • Collaborate with the Performing Arts department.

The Role

As a Performing Arts Teacher, you will deliver engaging lessons across KS3 and KS4, supporting students in drama, music, and dance, while helping them develop practical skills, creativity, and performance confidence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Teaching Performing Arts across KS3 and KS4
  • Delivering lessons in drama, music, and dance, including performance and theory
  • Supporting students with coursework, performances, and assessments
  • Planning differentiated lessons to meet a range of abilities
  • Encouraging creativity, collaboration, and self-expression
  • Monitoring student progress and providing constructive feedback
  • Working collaboratively within the Performing Arts / Arts department

Requirements

To be considered for this Performing Arts Teacher role, you will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching Performing Arts at KS3 and/or KS4
  • Strong subject knowledge in drama, music, and/or dance
  • Confident classroom and performance space management skills
  • A passion for creative education and student engagement
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply

This role is suitable for experienced teachers, ECTs, or Arts specialists.
