Job description

Horsham District Council is looking for a Performance Officer to join our Finance and Performance Department, helping us use data and insight to inform decisions and improve services for residents and stakeholders.

As a Performance Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the Councils corporate priorities through effective performance management, project assurance and risk management activities. You will coordinate the collection, analysis and reporting of performance, project and risk information, identifying trends and producing clear, accurate reports that provide assurance to managers and senior leaders and support effective decision-making. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Council, you will help develop performance dashboards, maintain our corporate performance management system and provide guidance on reporting requirements and data quality. You will also maintain published performance and governance information and coordinate the Assets of Community Value process, from receiving nominations to communicating decisions. Through monitoring performance, projects and risks, you will help ensure the successful delivery of corporate priorities and contribute to the Council’s continuous improvement agenda.

About you:

To succeed as a Performance Officer, you will have experience working in an office environment, with a proven ability to analyse data, identify trends and interpret information to provide meaningful insight to managers and senior leaders. You will be an excellent communicator, with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the Council. You will be part of a core team aimed at meeting corporate financial objectives, driving change and implementing best practice in financial systems.

You will be able to manage a demanding workload, demonstrating strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands effectively. You will be capable of interpreting and analysing data from a range of internal and external sources, applying sound analytical judgement and attention to detail to informed decision-making and service improvement. You'll adopt a flexible approach to work, adapting to changing priorities and business needs, while demonstrating the ability to learn and apply new technologies, systems and ways of working with minimal supervision. You will be comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively, bringing a customer-focused mindset, strong teamwork skills and the ability to use your own initiative.
