NHS Supply Chain is seeking a People Relations Advisor to support managers with employee relations, champion early resolution and develop a proactive people-relations service.

You will influence outcomes, coach managers, and help shape policies, working with Talent, Reward and Learning to deliver integrated solutions that support colleague wellbeing in a hybrid environment.

Job Title: People Relations Advisor

Function: People Team

Location: Hybrid Work - Expectation is two days per week at either our Nottingham or Sheffield office

Contract type: FTC - 12 months

Required start date: Due to the immediate business need to support the delivery of key priorities and objectives within the current financial year, we are seeking candidates who are available to start immediately or who have a notice period of no more than four weeks.

NHS Supply Chain currently has an exciting opportunity for a People Relations Advisor to join our team at a pivotal time of transformation, helping us make it easier for the NHS to put patients first.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Employee Relations professional to join our People Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting managers to navigate complex people matters, championing early resolution, and contributing to the development of a modern, proactive and values-led people relations service.

Drawing on your employee relations expertise, you will influence positive outcomes for colleagues and the organisation, build organisation capability through coaching and guidance, and play a key role in shaping how people relations is delivered across NHS Supply Chain. Through trusted partnerships and a pragmatic approach, you will help foster a positive workplace culture that enables colleagues and teams to thrive.

Every day you will …

  • Act as a trusted People Advisor, providing expert employee relations guidance, coaching and constructive challenge to managers, helping them navigate complex people matters and achieve positive, fair and consistent outcomes for colleagues.
  • Partner with leaders and stakeholders across the organisation to support organisational change initiatives, ensuring people impacts are effectively managed while maintaining a positive colleague experience.
  • Collaborate closely with specialist People teams, including Talent, Reward, Learning and Organisational Development, to deliver integrated people solutions that support organisational objectives and colleague wellbeing.
  • Design and deliver training, coaching and development initiatives that build manager capability, increase confidence and equip leaders with the skills needed to manage people effectively and compliantly.
  • Build credible and influential relationships with stakeholders at all levels, using data, insight and professional expertise to drive positive people outcomes and support high-performing teams.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve people practices, policies and processes, contributing to continuous improvement and helping to create an inclusive, engaging and high-performing workplace culture.
  • Use people data, trends and insights to inform recommendations, identify risks and opportunities, and support evidence-based decision making across the business.

  • Able to demonstrate a strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
  • Strong employee relations knowledge and the ability to provide practical and commercially focused people advice.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, relationship-building and coaching skills, with the confidence to influence and challenge constructively.
  • Experience of development and performance coaching.
