Job summary

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a Band 4 People Performance & Governance Officer based in Kendal. The role focuses on administrative, coordination and governance support to enable efficient delivery of people performance priorities.

The post holder will manage workload with minimal supervision, coordinate governance activities, analyse information and support service improvement, acting as a key contact for stakeholders. Closing date 05/10/2026.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Experience providing administrative support in a busy environment.
  • Experience communicating with staff at all levels.
  • Training in governance, data handling or project support.
  • Previous work in HR, governance or project support.
  • Knowledge of project methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the People Performance & Governance function.
  • Coordinate meetings including agenda preparation, circulation of papers, room/virtual booking and accurate minute-taking.
  • Maintain and update project documentation including action logs, trackers, risk logs and governance folders.
  • Monitor progress against key milestones and alert relevant staff to delays or issues.
  • Support improvement projects by gathering information, preparing summaries and assisting with implementation tasks.
  • Data, Reporting & Information Management: Collate, analyse and present data relating to people performance, projects and governance.
  • Produce routine reports, dashboards or written summaries for senior colleagues.
  • Ensure data quality, version control and accurate record-keeping in line with Trust standards.
  • Maintain key databases, logs and performance reporting systems, ensuring information is accurate and up-to-date.

Job overview

The People Performance & Governance Officer will provide high‑quality administrative, coordination and governance support to the People Performance, Governance & Place team. The postholder will manage their own workload with minimal supervision, coordinate project and governance activities, analyse and present information, support service improvement, and act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. The role contributes directly to the efficient running of people‑related governance frameworks and the delivery of Trust‑wide people performance priorities.

Main duties of the job

Provide comprehensive administrative support to the People Performance & Governance function, managing workload independently.

Coordinate meetings including agenda preparation, circulation of papers, room/virtual booking & accurate minute‑taking.

Maintain & update project documentation including action logs, trackers, risk logs and governance folders.

Monitor progress against key milestones & alert relevant staff to delays or issues.

Support improvement projects by gathering information, preparing summaries & assisting with implementation tasks.

Data, Reporting & Information Management

Working for our organisation

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant‑led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our Community Service for adults are provided in people’s homes ,community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent , improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care , advice and support.
