Qualifications

  • Senior HR/OD experience in a large organisation, public sector experience preferred.
  • Experience applying employment law to practical workforce issues.

We are seeking an experienced People and Organisational Development (OD) Business Partner to provide people support within a designated Division. As a key member of the People and OD Directorate and Divisional Leadership Team, you will work with senior leaders to develop and deliver workforce strategies that support organisational priorities.


The role offers an opportunity to influence organisational culture, workforce performance and employee experience. You will provide expert advice across a range of workforce matters, including organisational development, employee relations, workforce planning, organisational change and leadership development. Working closely with leaders and managers, you will help create positive and inclusive workplace cultures where colleagues are engaged, valued and supported to perform at their best.


You will lead workforce transformation initiatives, using workforce data to identify opportunities, address challenges and implement solutions that improve organisational effectiveness. You will play a key role in embedding Trust values and behaviours, supporting employee engagement and ensuring people practices align with strategic priorities.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will provide strategic and operational People support to a designated Division, working with senior leaders to develop and deliver workforce plans that support service objectives and organisational priorities.


The postholder will provide expert advice on a broad range of workforce matters including employee relations, organisational development, workforce planning, change management and employment legislation. They will support leaders to build management capability, improve workforce performance and create positive, inclusive working environments.


The role will lead workforce change and transformation initiatives, ensuring changes are planned, communicated and implemented effectively. The postholder will use workforce data and insight to identify trends, address workforce challenges and support evidence-based decision making.


They will support employee engagement activity, embed organisational values and behaviours and contribute to initiatives that improve colleague experience and organisational effectiveness.


The role also includes supporting complex employee relations casework, contributing to corporate People and OD projects, providing coaching and guidance to managers and colleagues, and deputising for senior members of the team where required.


Working for our organisation

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.


FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.


WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.


All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.


Our Community Service for adults are provided in people's homes ,community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent , improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care , advice and support.

Education and Qualifications


  • Chartered Member of the CIPD (or equivalent experience) Postgraduate Diploma in HRM (or equivalent) Evidence of Continuing Professional development

  • Senior workforce role in a large organisation Project and performance management Staff management In depth exposure to solving multi factorial employee relations issues within a complex environment Experience of applying employment law to practical and complex applications Experience of managing and developing effective teams Proven experience of creating opportunities through partnership working Experience of meaningful workforce planning for a complex organisation Extensive HR experience Experience of Policy development and training

  • Experience in a large, multidisciplinary organisation NHS or other public sector experience Experience of Job Evaluation process
