Job description

Our People Advisors are a knowledgeable (and busy) bunch. Managing an HR Assistant, they are hands-on with all things people-related on site. One minute they can be dealing with an ER issue, and the next they can be offering guidance and coaching to the site leadership team. It's a fast-paced and varied role, but one thing remains consistent: the quality of service to both our internal and external customers.

Reporting to the People Manager, you will also:

  1. Support, coach, and challenge line management with absence, disciplinary, and grievance issues.
  2. Identify development opportunities to improve soft skills and build future talent.
  3. Lead engaging, proactive communications across the site.
  4. Build positive and effective relationships with unions and agency suppliers.
  5. Reinforce the vision and values in all aspects of work and act as a barometer to colleague morale.
  6. Support and drive colleague engagement on site.
  7. Cover the People Specialist role in their absence.
  8. Lead a number of projects on the HR plan.
  9. Design and implement effective recruitment solutions.
  10. Proactively manage employee relations.
  11. Support the People team with day-to-day admin tasks.

About you

As well as a 'hands-on' attitude and the ability to react well to change (in a fast-moving environment), you will also need to have:

  1. CIPD (or working towards) or equivalent, with up-to-date knowledge of employment relations and employment law, and how to apply this.
  2. The ability to work in a fast-moving HR environment, with manufacturing or logistics experience.
  3. Experience of advising, supporting, and coaching managers.
  4. A proactive approach to continuous business improvements.
  5. Experience of implementing processes with a sense of fulfilment.
  6. A high level of customer service with the ability to adapt your communication style accordingly.
  7. Good commercial awareness.
  8. Experience of dealing with unions.
  9. Ability to act on own initiative and 'think outside the box.'
  10. Experience of problem-solving tools.
  11. Project management skills (not required but would be ideal).
