Mattioli Woods Limited is seeking a curious, organised apprentice to join the Central Service Team and begin a career in HR. You’ll support essential HR administration, Workday data entry, and employee records while working toward a Level 3 HR apprenticeship.

You’ll receive close supervision from the People Administrator and People Coordinator, develop practical skills in HR administration, and gain experience across the People function in a collaborative, office-based environment.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs in English and Maths at grade 4/C or above.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organised, reliable with time management.
  • Positive can-do attitude with interest in HR and data handling.
  • Curiosity, resilience, and willingness to learn.
  • Experience or awareness of HR/business administration is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Complete allocated People administration accurately and on time (filing, correspondence, mail merges, inbox support).
  • Support Workday data entry, employee updates and routine data quality checks.
  • Assist with starter administration, including starter packs, offer letters and pre-employment checks.
  • Track references, contracts, starters, leavers and probation reviews; flag outstanding actions.
  • Support People communications, training records, and annual checks.
  • Extract standard reports and maintain process documentation and quick reference guides.
  • Handle employee information confidentially in line with data protection.
  • Support People projects and build relationships across the People team and wider business.

People Apprentice

We’re looking for a curious, organised and detail-focused apprentice to join our Central Service Team and begin a career in HR. Reporting to a Central Service Team Leader and working alongside the People Administrator, you’ll provide essential administrative support across the People function while working towards a recognised HR apprenticeship qualification. You’ll receive close supervision and guidance from the People Administrator and People Coordinator as you develop practical skills in HR administration, employee data management and Workday, building accuracy, confidence and an understanding of People processes over time.


What you’ll be doing completing allocated People administration accurately and on time, including filing, correspondence, mail merges and shared inbox support supporting straightforward Workday data entry, employee updates, record maintenance and routine data quality checks helping with new starter administration, including starter packs, standard offer letters and pre-employment check documentation tracking references, contracts, starters, leavers and probation reviews, and flagging outstanding actions supporting People communications, training activities, training records and annual fit and proper check administration extracting standard reports and helping to maintain process documentation and quick reference guides handling employee information confidentially and in line with data protection requirements supporting People projects and building effective relationships across the People team, Central Services and the wider business


What we’re looking for


  • GCSES, or equivalent, in English and Maths at grade 4/C or above

  • excellent attention to detail and accuracy

  • good written and verbal communication skills

  • an organised, reliable approach and the ability to manage time effectively

  • a positive, can-do attitude with a genuine interest in HR and people confidence using basic IT systems, including Microsoft Office, and comfort working with data

  • curiosity, resilience and a willingness to ask questions, seek feedback and learn

  • Experience or awareness of HR or business administration through education or work experience would be helpful, as would experience in a customer-facing or office-based environment, whether paid or voluntary


What success looks like Workday and administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time, with errors raised proactively consistent progress is made against the apprenticeship learning framework you earn positive feedback for reliability, accuracy and willingness to learn you become increasingly confident handling routine tasks independently while seeking guidance on more complex matters you take pride in delivering accurate, timely work, including during repetitive or high-volume periods Your apprenticeship work towards a recognised qualification, typically Level 3 HR Support or equivalent receive dedicated off-the-job learning time in line with apprenticeship requirements take part in regular progress reviews with your line manager and apprenticeship training provider complete all required learning and assessments to a high standard potentially progress into a permanent People Administrator role after successful completion, subject to business need and performance
