Job summary

West Northants Council is seeking a Pensions Officer to join the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) service. You will manage a varied portfolio of pension administration work, ensuring records and benefits are processed accurately and in line with regulations.

You will handle complex historical cases, review regulatory changes, help design new processes, and provide clear guidance to members, employers and pensioners while driving service improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in pension administration.
• Ability to interpret regulations accurately.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of pension administration work, ensuring records and benefits are processed accurately and in accordance with LGPS regulations and internal procedures.
• Take ownership of complex, historical and backlog cases, investigating issues, resolving discrepancies and ensuring member records are complete.
• Support the implementation of legislative and regulatory changes; review guidance, assess impacts and help design/test new processes.
• Respond to enquiries from scheme members, pensioners and employers with clear, accurate information to aid informed decisions.
