Cyngor Caerdydd/Cardiff Council is looking for an enthusiastic Pensions Assistant to join the Pensions Administration Team. This entry-level role focuses on providing a high-quality service to over 45,000 pension scheme members, including administration tasks and customer communication.
While pensions experience is not required, good administrative skills and a commitment to customer services are essential. Full training and support for further qualifications will be provided. Once training is complete, hybrid working will be available.
We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for an administrator, to work within our Pensions Administration Team, dealing with the day-to-day administration of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our team and undertake the role of Pensions Assistant. Our aim is to provide an accurate and customer focused service to our members from joining the scheme to their retirement. The Pensions Team provides a high-quality administration service to all employees and employers of the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Pension Fund. There are currently over 45,000 members of the Scheme and 42 participating employers.
This is an entry level role, therefore whilst it is recognised that candidates’ knowledge or experience of Pensions may be limited, a willingness to learn is crucial. You will need to have good organisational skills, the ability to plan and prioritise effectively, excellent communication skills and be flexible. The Pension Assistant role is very varied, and you will undertake a range of administrative tasks including helping those joining the pension scheme, current members of the scheme and those leaving the scheme. Part of your role will involve communicating by telephone and in writing with our customers as well as external organisations, so you will need to be able to deal with sensitive matters and provide the best customer care. Pensions experience not required. We are looking for someone with good administrative skills who is willing to learn how this can be applied in a Pensions environment. It’s important that you enjoy working with figures and have a strong commitment to customer services. You will enjoy the challenge of working in a busy team, the ability to work flexibly and be able to prioritise workloads to meet challenging deadlines. You will be self‑motivated, a clear communicator, with excellent attention to detail and be comfortable dealing with high volumes of a variety of different tasks. You will also demonstrate the capability to use computer systems, including Microsoft applications. Full training will be given both by the team and external providers. If you wish, you will be provided with support to study for a qualification in Pensions Administration. Home study would be required.
