Job summary

Hampshire Pension Services (HPS) administers pensions for the Hampshire Pension Fund, a Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). We are recruiting pension administrators across teams; no pensions experience is needed as we offer full support and training from day one.

This permanent role at Hampshire County Council is 37 hours per week with a salary of £25,186 to £26,244 per annum. You will work with members and employers, handle queries, maintain records, and help deliver excellent customer

Qualifications

  • 5 GCSEs grade C or 4 and above including Maths and English.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Good organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and guidance to members with basic queries and day-to-day administration.
  • Deal with pension scheme administration across LGPS, Fire and Police schemes.
  • Answer phone calls, letters and emails from members and employers.
  • Maintain member records on the pension system.

The Role:

Hampshire Pension Services (HPS) administers pensions for the Hampshire Pension Fund, a Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). We are also the pension administrator for the following schemes:

  • West Sussex County Council LGPS
  • London Borough Of Hillingdon LGPS
  • City Of Westminster LGPS
  • West Sussex Fire

We administer pensions for approximately 300,000 members across all the schemes, with around 700 employers using the scheme. Pension Services is deeply focused on excellent customer service, which is why we currently hold the Customer Service Excellence Award.

HPS is made up of several teams, each specialising in a particular area – Member Services; Pensions Customer Support Team (PCST); Employer Services; Data, Systems and Partnership Support (DSPS); Finance; and Communications, Projects, and Development (CPD).

We are recruiting pension administrators across these teams; no pensions experience is needed as we offer full support and training from day one.

What you’ll do:
  • Work with members and employers to provide support and guidance to them with basic queries and day to day administration
  • To deal with a whole range of pension scheme administration relating to the local government, fire and police pension schemes
  • Answer phone calls, letters and emails from members, employers and external organisations
  • Maintain member records on our pension system
  • Calculate pension entitlements e.g. estimates, retirements, transfers and deferred benefits
  • Successfully balance conflicting workload demands with the support of their manager and bring to their attention any concerns with these
  • Engage with a variety of team projects in order to achieve results within specified timescales
  • Promote a culture that welcomes customer feedback and engagement to facilitate continuous improvement
  • Promote team and joined up working to achieve objectives
  • The role holder will need to demonstrate an ability to deliver successfully whilst working under pressure with tight and changing deadlines
What we’re looking for:
  • Have you got 5 GCSEs grade C or 4 and above or equivalent (must include Maths and English)?
  • Are you enthusiastic and positive?
  • Are you a strong communicator (written and verbal) who can build good working relationships with customers and peers?
  • Do you have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines?
  • Do you have good attention to detail?
  • Can you offer excellent Customer Service, and do you enjoy helping people?
  • Are you willing to learn and try new things?
  • Do you have strong IT skills?
