Job summary

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service is seeking a skilled Pensions Advisor to support pension services across FPS and LGPS. You will work with payroll, pensions, and governance to deliver accurate, compliant advice to members and managers.

The role requires interpreting complex legislation, handling sensitive data, and liaising with external bodies. Travel is possible as part of the role, with a pool car provided where needed.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in a pension-related role.
• Strong knowledge of FPS and LGPS.
• Ability to interpret complex pension and tax legislation.
• Experience advising a range of stakeholders with discretion.
• Highly organised with data handling capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Act as first contact for pension administration provider and monitor service standards.
• Provide professional guidance to managers, employees, pensioners and members.
• Collaborate with LGA, SAB and pension bodies; represent the organisation at forums.
• Coordinate transfer of pension data between stakeholders.
• Manage ill-health retirements and appeals for FPS and LGPS.
• Oversee Internal Dispute Resolution Procedure (IDRP).
• Monitor legislation changes and support scheme compliance.
